Talk:Using an MCE remote

Hello, I'm not really knowledgeable regarding remote controls, and something is lacking in this article. The paragraph entitled "... and how to solve it", mentions that "XBMC has support built in for remote controllers of types 2, 3 and 4". Further down, the article says that "type 3 and 4 will probably work on Linux out of the box", and then that "type 2, 3 or 4 remote then it will probably work without any messing around", and so on...

Ok, but I don't know anything about those types! Two questions that would need clear answers for the neophyte are: What are those types (straightforward)? How can you detect the type of a remote when looking up to buy a new remote, is there an easy way in regards to some characteristic? Thanks in advance, --HawkFest 17:31, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
