This guideline describes the varies types of content pages on XBMC Wiki, and how they should be titled.
General page title guidelines
- See also w:Wikipedia:Article titles for more general ideas
- Use lower case, except for proper names: related guidelines: w:Wikipedia:Naming conventions (capitalization), w:Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters
- Avoid definite and indefinite articles: Do not place definite or indefinite articles (the, a and an) at the beginning of titles unless they are part of a proper name (e.g. The Old Man and the Sea).
Page types
- Any given page can fall under multiple types. A page does not have to be strictly one type or another
- How-to's: a "how to" page is generally a step-by-step set of instructions for a specific task. These pages should be titled "How-to:Page title" such as "How-to:Install XBMC on a toaster oven".
- General topic: A general topic, such as Movie sets, should be named after the topic at hand. These general topic pages can also include "how-to" instructions, but since they also cover additional general information should not be titled as a "How-to:".
- Data dumps: Data dumps include pages that are meant to just be wiki copies of XML files like keymaps, configuration files, etc.
