Whilst XBMC is playing media on screen you can activate the codecinfo pop-up/overlay. This normally appears as white text on a black background bar located near the top of the screen (dependent on the theme being used).
The codecinfo displays a number of variables in real time describing detailed codec information.
The meaning of the variable abbreviations are as follows:
