CEC stands for Consumer Electronics Control. The CEC function allows you to control up to 15 Devices. So it's perfect for controlling XBMC with the Remote control of the TV.
Since the Frodo release XBMC comes with the new libcec 2.02 which in my case allows me to control it with the Panasonic remote control.
