Requirements:

Installing from Cydia

After XBMC is successfully installed, the ATV2 will restart, and XBMC should then be available as an option in the ATV2's main menu
This is the same build installed from the nitoTV menu, if installed.

To install the Cydia build:

  1. Open up your terminal/ssh application and enter the following command to log in to your ATV2:
    ssh [email protected]
  2. You will be asked for a password: default password is alpine
  3. Continue to enter the following commands:
  4. Issue these commands in your Terminal window, in sequence:
    apt-get install wget
    wget -O- http://apt.awkwardtv.org/awkwardtv.pub | apt-key add -
    echo "deb http://apt.awkwardtv.org/ stable main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/awkwardtv.list
    echo "deb http://mirrors.xbmc.org/apt/atv2 ./" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.list
    apt-get update
    apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2
    reboot

Eden Beta

No more nightly builds! Eden beta 2 is here! If you installed for the first time today using the above instructions then you already have Beta 2. If not, either update through NitoTV or issue the following commands to update your Cydia copy:

  1. Open up your terminal/ssh application and enter the following command to log in to your ATV2:
    ssh [email protected]
  2. You will be asked for a password: default password is alpine
  3. Continue to enter the following commands:
    apt-get update
    apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2
  4. You should now have Eden Beta 2 for ATV2. See here to verify your XBMC version.
