Tags may refer to one of the following:

Libraries

Video library tags
Video library tags, aka Tags or Keywords, can be used to further sort and organise your library into meaningful lists. Sites such as IMDB and TheMovieDB use Keywords to describe themes, plot details or character types to group and easily locate similar titles. They are generally different to the genre.

Files

Music tagging
Tags embedded in music files that Kodi uses to populate the library.
Video file tagging
Kodi v18 Leia introduces support for embedded video tags using *.mkv and *.mp4 video files. *.avi support is available since v18.x. They are similar in principle to the tags saved in audio files. Only limited support for video tags is available at this time.

Development

Default control tags
Tags and attributes available for all controls
