What is Xbox Media Center and what does it allow me to do if I run it on Microsoft's Xbox™?

Xbox Media Center is a free and open source (GPL) multimedia player/jukebox for the Xbox™ game console from Microsoft. Xbox Media Center can be used to play or view supported video/audio/picture formats such as DVD, DivX, XviD, AAC+, FLAC, MP3, JPG and many more. It has playlists, slideshow functions and can play direct from a CD/DVD in the Xbox™ DVD-ROM or from the Xbox™ hard disk drive. It even streams files from local networked computers, even from inside RAR archives! <<need to add stuff here>>

Xbox Media Center is often referred to in short hand as “XBMC”.

Note! XBMC is a non-profit project that is developed by volunteers in their spare time for free.
