Whist XBMC is playing media on screen you can activate the codecinfo pop-up/overlay. This normally appears as while text on a black bar at the top of the screen dependent on the theme being used.

The codecinfo displays a number of variables, (real time), describing codec information of the currently playing media.

The meaning of the variable abbreviations are as follows:
