Long time XBMC user, also have a ton of hacks I've put together for my own use that I'd like to start sharing with the community including, but not limited to:
* Using incron (inotify cron daemon) w/ XBMC web services for auto-updating
* Fuzzy-matching show name/season info from files dumped into a directory to sweep and have them moved to the right place and XBMC updated
* Various databse views to work with the DB in a more user-friendly format (e.g., human-readable column names) and performance tweaks (e.g. indexes)
** Views/procedures that identify gaps in episodes, e.g., tells you that episde 3 is missing from season 5 of a show
** Views for dumping XML configuration files to the Vuze plugin ScaneRSS for automatic downloading
